The 1914 - 1915 register was a special class which took in children from all over Newport (including St Woolos itself) who were suffering from ringworm. Other schools refered to it as "St Woolos Ringworm School" or "Ringworm School".

[Note from www.NHS.uk: "Ringworm is a common fungal infection. It's not caused by worms. You can usually buy medicine from a pharmacy to treat it." ]
