Presented by His Majesty to Thomas Lewis, for gallantry in saving life at the Dock Extension Works, Newport (Mon.), on the 2nd July 1909.

This medal was presented to Tom Lewis by King Edward VII for his part in the rescue of workmen trapped in 'the Newport Dock Disaster'. The Albert medal was awarded to civilians for life saving.
